Scabiosa stellata 'Ping Pong'
This scabious flowers through summer producing small very pale blue flower heads followed by beautiful rounded heads of seeds with a papery attachment that make them look like mini shuttlecocks.
Sow: Spring or autumn.
How: Either sow seed in trays & prick out, or where they are to flower outside, 5mm deep covered with a fine layer of mix or soil. Germination takes 7 - 10 days. Protect from slugs & snails!
Plant Where: Full sun
Spacing: Transplant to 20 - 30cm
Height: Approx 80cm x 40cm
Growing Tips: Will self-sow if left in.
The seed heads are the form this cultivar is usually picked in. They are especially lovely in dried arrangements but can be used fresh. If picking for the seed heads pick as soon as they mature, left any later they will shatter once dried.
