This annual species of Lathyrus is native to open areas and field margins of the Mediterranean and Asia Minor.
The flowers are medium - sized and bright orange in colour, leaves are slightly glaucous and narrowly lanceolate, 1- 3 flowers are produced per flowering stem.
Seed pods carry around 2 - 4 seeds per pod.
An interesting little species to grow in a pot or the garden.
Sow: June to Sept for summer flowers.
How: Chip seed prior to sowing as this aids germination. Sow either in pots or punnets outside, 1cm deep covered with a layer of seed mix or soil. Germination should take around 14 days but species can take longer.
Plant Where: Full sun
Spacing: Transplant to 15cm spacings.
Height: 1.5m
Growing Tips: No need to pinch. Protect from slugs, snail, mice & rabbits!
Seed is best stored in the fridge or freezer
