This annual species of Lathyrus has small yellow-green flowers. Flowers are normally produced in 1's or 2's.
It its native habitat in Central Turkey to Caucasus, Iran & Iraq, Lebanon & Syria it usually flowers in June. Here in NZ it is summer flowering too, so anytime from Oct/Nov to Feb.
Seed pods are small & carry around 5 - 9 seeds per pod.
An interesting little species to grow in a pot or the garden.
Sow: March to June for spring flowers or June to Sept for summer flowers.
How: Sow either in pots or punnets outside, or where to flower outside, 1cm deep covered with a layer of seed mix or soil. Germination should take 10-14 days.
Plant Where: Full sun
Spacing: Transplant to 15cm spacings.
Height: 50cm – 1m
Growing Tips: No need to pinch. Protect from slugs, snail, mice & rabbits!
Keep picking for continued flowering.
Seed is best stored in the fridge or freezer
