This annual species of Lathyrus was only described in 1988. It was found growing in the Antalya region of southern Turkey. It its native habitat it usually flowers April to June. Here in NZ it is summer flowering, so anytime from Oct/Nov to Feb. 

The flowers are small & slightly scented with orange standard and bright yellow wings. The intensity of colouring can vary in darkness.

Seed pods are small & only carry around 2 seeds per pod & abscise rather than spring open. 

An interesting little species to grow in a pot or the garden. 

Sow: June to Sept for summer flowers.

How: Carefully ship the seed, away from the hylum (the little white area where the shoot emerges from) prior to sowing. Sow either in pots or punnets outside, 1cm deep covered with a layer of seed mix or soil. Germination should take around 14 days but species can take longer.

Plant Where: Full sun

Spacing: Transplant to 15cm spacings.

Height: 1m

Growing Tips: No need to pinch. Protect from slugs, snail, mice & rabbits!

Seed is best stored in the fridge or freezer
